Blue Oak crew lead in a Central Texas gardenCrew of nineSouth Congress yard

Our story

We garden for the climate we actually have

Blue Oak started with one truck, a trailer of live oak mulch and a handful of neighbours off South Congress who wanted their front yards to stop looking exhausted by July.

Everything we install is chosen for Central Texas: caliche-heavy soil, alkaline water, forty days over a hundred degrees and then a hard freeze nobody planned for. That means blackfoot daisy, gulf muhly, twistleaf yucca and Texas sage instead of thirsty imports that need babysitting — plus drip irrigation zoned properly so you are not watering a sidewalk.

Native and water-wise planting is not a style choice here. It is the difference between a garden that fills in year after year and one you replace every spring. Our crew is licensed for irrigation work, trained on oak wilt timing, and lives in the neighbourhoods we maintain.

How we work

Three things our clients bring up most when they recommend us to a neighbour.

Honest estimates

We walk the property, measure, and write the plant list and material quantities down. The number you sign is the number you pay unless you ask us to add something — and if a design is beyond your budget, we will tell you which phase to do first.

Craftsmanship

Flagstone set on a proper base so it does not rock in two seasons. Beds edged by hand. Drip lines buried, capped and flagged. Lighting aimed at dusk with you standing there, not guessed at noon.

Long-term care

A garden is not finished at install. Most of our clients stay on a maintenance visit — seasonal cleanup, mulch top-ups, irrigation checks before summer — so the planting keeps getting better instead of drifting.

“If a yard needs a gallon of water a day to look alive, we designed it wrong. Get the plants right and the rest is just good housekeeping.”

Who we work with

Mostly homeowners — the bungalow that needs its first real front yard, the 1990s cul-de-sac house ready to lose half its lawn.

We also keep steady schedules for landlords and property managers who need reliable lawn maintenance and quick irrigation repairs between tenants, and for small residential communities — duplex rows, pocket HOAs, a handful of condo courtyards — where one crew handling everything keeps the look consistent and the invoicing simple.

Whether it is a full landscape design or a monthly mow, the same crew shows up, and you have a direct number rather than a call centre.
